Report: Reds 7-1 Goytre United

22nd November 2024

The Reds continued a fine run of form with an emphatic 7-1 win on an emotional evening at Stebonheath Park with goals from Ethan Cann, Henry Jones, Bradley Gibbings, Danny Williams and Sean Cronin

Bradley Gibbings continued his fine goalscoring form by getting the Reds in front within two minutes. Great work from Joe Lloyd to find Gibbings in the six yard box with the forward able to convert across goal.

Joe Hopkins made a huge goal line block to deny the visitors an equaliser just after the 10 minute mark. Goytre had created a dangerous attack on the break, Keane Watts found Dafydd Owen who was denied by the skipper.

Ethan Cann then made it two for the Reds. An initial shot in the box, falling to Cann who only needed to supply a simple finish to increase the lead.

Theo Wharton then provided a fantastic through ball to Cann just after half an hour. The strikers shot bouncing off an opposition defender before somehow beating the keeper from some range.

The visitors got a goal back just two minutes before the break. A great strike from Brad Flay into the top corner.

Henry Jones then added a fourth for the Reds, his shot inside the area causing the goalkeeper to make an error - returning the lead back to three goals.

A great chance for the Reds 10 minutes into the second half, Lloyd found Cann with a great ball over the top of the Goytre back line. Canns shot was hit with some power but just wide.

Sean Cronin then made it five for the Reds on the hour mark. Jones with a great corner into the box allowing the centre half to head home with ease.

Jones produced a moment of brilliance to score his second of the night and the Reds sixth of the game - receiving the ball on the edge of the area before striking his shot off the underside of the bar,

giving the keeper no chance to stop it.

Danny Williams then added a seventh, five minutes from the end of the regular 90. A sublime shot from range curling into the top corner.

John Chesters produced a great stop to deny Watts from close range as part of the final piece of the action of the game.
