Report: Reds 4-0 Pill AFC

The Reds cruised to victory in the JD Welsh Cup with a 4-0 win against Pill AFC at Stebonheath Park. A hattrick from Bradley Gibbings and a goal from Theo Wharton sealed a strong and dominant performance for Lee Johns side.
A first real chance in the game came when Sean Cronin connected with the ball from a cross, his headed attempt blocked off the line.
The Reds found themselves in front when Bradley Gibbings managed to slot home an effort from close range. The chance for Gibbings was created following a number of blocked efforts in the six yard box.
Theo Wharton made it two for the Reds just before the 20 minute mark. The midfielder produced a skillful finish in front of goal following a well worked ball into the area.
The Reds continued to create a number of chances, Ethan Cann came close to making it three before his shot was saved. Joe Lloyd then attempted a spectacular effort from range, his volley just over the bar.
Pill had their first real chance of the game around the half hour mark, a free kick from range causing no real problems for Scott Coughlan.
The Reds looked to add to their lead early on in the second half. Cronin found Cann with a great direct long ball - Cann’s quick pass finding Henry Jones whose shot was just over the crossbar.
Lloyd attempted another shot from range, well saved by Lee Wallace for the visitors who then had a chance of their own before seeing their shot comfortably held by Coughlan.
Joe Hunt produced a fantastic cross into the box, finding Cann whose header forced Wallace into a fantastic save from close range.
Cann came close once again just after the hour mark, a well worked move saw his shot saved well by Wallace.
Gibbings scored his second of the afternoon and the Reds third. A great run from the winger saw him skip past the opposition back line before drilling his effort across goal and into the far corner.
The Reds continued to create chances and the constant pressure paid off once again. Alex Giardelli played a fantastic pass to Gibbings who once again fired across goal for his much deserved hattrick.
