In what has been a successful season for the club following the first team’s promotion to the JD Cymru Premier, the Veterans have continued to add to their long list of achievements.
The season has been another of success both on and off the pitch with the formation of another over 40’s side who play in the 40’s West division. The side finished 2nd with the team being set up to give the guys in the area a chance to play veterans football under the management of Paul Davy and David Morgan.
Our other 40s side played in and won the inaugural Premier Division under the management of Alun Williams. The side boasts a wealth of well known names including the likes of Leon Britton, Angel Rangel, Chris Holloway and Lee Trundle all being part of the squad.
Our over 45’s successfully retained their league title for the fourth year in a row, an unprecedented achievement, under the stewardship of Kevin Bartley. The levels of success produced by the 45s is something everyone at the club is incredibly proud of, a massive congratulations to all involved.
Another side that was able to retain their title was our over 50’s. Under the management of Simon Rogers, the 50s won the league with Neil Williams scoring an outstanding 51 league goals in what is, we think, a veterans league record.
Finally, our over 55’s have had an outstanding season with improvement clear to see in every game. This positive progress culminated with the sides first cup final appearance under the stewardship of Jeff Howells, narrowly missing out in the final to Merthyr.
IMPORTANT! The season is not quite finished for our 40s just yet, they will take on the Northern Champions Hawarden Rangers in a South vs North Play off on Sunday June 1st, 2pm Kick Off at Ocean Park!
The standard of veterans football continues to improve every season and the Reds will need to continue raising our game next season as we look to continue the fantastic success achieved since our formation.
