Our Opponents – Haverfordwest County AFC

This is our first top flight meeting with the Bluebirds since 2011 with this Fridays visitors also struggling in the league at the start of the current campaign.

Despite kicking off the campaign with European fixtures after concluding last season on a high, the Bluebirds have struggled to get up and running this season.

Defeats to Floriana of Malta saw Haverfordwest exit the UEFA Europa Conference League in the first qualifying round.

Despite strong displays in the Nathaniel MG Cup, the Bluebirds have just one win in the league this season, that coming in the form of a late winner away against Briton Ferry Llansawel.

Draws against Cardiff Met and Caernarfon Town make up the remainder of Haverfordwest’s 5 points on the board so far this season.

The Bluebirds were narrowly defeated in front of the Sgorio cameras against Barry Town United on Tuesday evening. An 89th minute winner from Ben Margeston saw the Linnets run out 2-3 winners at the Ogi Bridge Meadow Stadium.

Previously Against the Bluebirds…

We last met Haverfordwest away from home in the JD Welsh Cup back in December 2024.

It turned out to be a memorable night for the Reds with a fantastic brace from Ethan Cann sealing all three points. The victory in the Welsh Cup would see the Reds eventually go on to reach the Semi final of the competition.

FAW Welsh Cup 24/25 Matchday 4 Haverfordwest County vs Llanelli Town AFC played at “LHP Stadium, Carmarthen” on the 13/12/2024 19:45 KO

Before our meeting in 2024, the Reds last met the Bluebirds back in the JD Cymru South during the 2019/20 campaign where this Fridays visitors came out on top on both occasions.

Who’s In Form?

As mentioned, Haverfordwest haven’t had the start to the campaign they would have been hoping for. However, there have been a number of individuals still making their mark.

As it is a home match this Friday, our full in depth players to watch feature will be available to read in your matchday programme so make sure to pick up your copy on Friday!

As always we will take a look at one player in particular within this preview; for the Bluebirds we have chosen Dan Hawkins.

Reds Recap

As mentioned briefly at the beginning of the preview, the Reds recorded their first league win of the season against Briton Ferry on Tuesday evening.

A first ever Reds goal from Rio Booth sealed the win for Llanelli in the 86th minute at the Renewable Centre Stadium. An equaliser from Danny Williams sparked the comeback after the Reds had found themselves behind in the first half.

A performance that not only gives the Reds momentum ahead of this crucial game on Friday but also ends a winless run against Ferry that dates back to the 21/22 season.
