A goalless draw with the Seagulls saw the Reds earn their first league point of the campaign at Stebonheath Park on Saturday afternoon.
A man of the match performance by Alex Pennock on his home debut saw the goalkeeper deny the visitors from the spot as well as producing a number of crucial saves throughout the 90.
The visitors dominated the opening five minutes of the game, putting together a range of strong attacks and constantly getting the ball into dangerous areas of the box.
A similar story continued for the rest of the opening quarter of an hour, the visitors looked the better side and continued on the front foot, however the Reds were showing improvement going forward.

Colwyn Bay were awarded a penalty just after the 19th minute, Harrison Bright’s tackle forcing the referee to point to the spot. An in form Louis Robles stepped up to take the penalty which was saved down the middle by Alex Pennock.
The Reds really began to grow into the game as the half hour mark approached, starting to get the ball forward and create a number of chances – turning the game into a great end to end battle.
Alex Pennock produced an incredible save just after 32 minutes, the visitors played a fantastic ball into the box which was headed across goal – the second header from close range was tipped onto the bar by Alex.
The final chance of the first half came on the brink of half time, a close range effort by Colwyn Bay blocked off the line by the Reds defence.

The Reds had a huge chance to go one in front just after the break, a great ball into the box headed across goal by Sean Cronin – his header met by Alex Bonthron with his shot being cleared off the line.
Alex produced another fine stop just after the hour mark, this time to deny a powerful low effort from inside the box.
The Reds defence produced two key stops in the 68th minute, first Sean Cronin put in a great tackle to stop Jordan Davies breaking into the box before Nelson Sanca’s header denied a great cross into the area with a strong header.
Colwyn Bay were just inches away from scoring the opener just after the 73rd minute, a great ball into the 6 yard box struck by substitute Issa Kargbo, whose shot settled on the top of the net.

The game continued to be a feisty end to end encounter with the visitors having the final chance in stoppage time, a corner well defended by the Reds to secure a first point of the campaign.
