Goals from Levi Morgan, Alex Colwill and Rhys Loxdale as well as a penalty save from Oliver Williams were enough to see off the Old Gold on a sunny Sunday at Stebo.

A very end to end start to the game saw the first real chance fall for the visitors. A great cross into the area finding former Red Josh Joda whose header struck the post.

The visitors were then reduced to 10 men just before the 10 minute mark following a last man foul by Sean Richards following a fantastic piece of play by the Reds.

A good chance for the Reds just after the 20th minute, Toby Jones’ run down the right hand side with a pass in behind found Levi Morgan – Levi’s chance to pass into the middle deflected out for a corner.

Another big chance fell for the Reds just before the 30 minute mark, a great move by Karim Hussein whose cross found Shivo Hinds on the edge of the 18 yard box.

Shivo’s shot from a tight angle was saved but parried, however Ewan McGowan was just unable to turn home a loose ball.

There was then a lengthy break just after the 37th minute following an injury to Jay Farrell-Alli. The defender was unable to continue and we wish him all the best and hope that his injury is not too serious.

A chance for the Reds before the break following some pressure by the visitors, however the shot was well stopped by Charlie Craig – sending the sides in level at the break.

The Reds created the first big chance of the second half, a great passage of play between Alfie Evans and Levi whose pass found Shivo in the area. Shivo’s shot was then saved fantasticly by Charlie Craig.

It was the Reds who took the lead in the derby just after 55 minutes, a fantastic pass across the pitch by Ewan that found Levi whose shot over powered the keeper and found the net.

Ewan then came close to a quick second for the Reds, the striker burst through the Carmarthen backline but his shot narrowly dragged wide of goal.

Just after 65 minutes the Reds took a two goal lead thanks to substitute Alex Colwill. Having been awarded a free kick on the right hand side of the pitch in the final third.

Captain Jack Smith took the free kick, crossing it into a dangerous area in the 18 yard box – his cross was then met by Alex’s header which completed a very well worked set piece by the Reds.

Carmarthen were then awarded a penalty just after the 68th minute following a scuffle in the penalty area. Josh Joda stepped up to the spot and saw his penalty denied by Reds keeper Oliver Williams.

Oliver then reacted quickly to deny Joda for a second time after an attempted shot following the rebound.

The Reds then made it three in the 76th minute. Karim intercepted a poor pass from the Carmarthen backline before Rhys Loxdale was granted a clear shot on goal which he converted with ease.

Carmarthen got a goal back with just seven minutes left to play, Joda finding himself on the scoresheet – making up for his earlier miss from the spot.

The Reds held on and continued their strong performance to see out the remainder of the game and take all 3 points on derby day at Stebo.
